Teeth whitening has been a popular method to brighten teeth naturally and safely. Teeth become darker in time due to stains becoming incorporated into the tooth surface and into the porosities of the teeth. Surface stains can be polished out but internal stains are removed by a gel that breaks down these stains over a period of time.
There are 2 methods that are used:
Impressions are taken of the teeth and mouth so that custom fitted trays can be constructed that hold the gel against the tooth surface. This usually takes 12 days to complete a course.
This is a quicker method of whitening teeth where the gel is placed onto the teeth and activated by a light that accelerates the reaction. It takes one appointment in which there are 4 cycles of 15 minutes to complete this whitening process.
